Before you begin
Which Integration Method Should I Use?
ConversionCow is can be integrated with Google Analytics 4 in multiple ways. The method of choice is dependant on your existing website tracking and monitoring tools.
- If your website has Google Analytics 4 installed
use the "Ready to Use" option
- If your website has Google Analytics 4 AND Google Tag Manager installed
use the "Google Tag Manager" option
- IMPORTANT - If you utilise the incorrect method, the integration will not function

Google Analytics 4 - Ready to Use Method
Before you start:
- Website - has Google Analytics 4 Installed
- Website - has ConversionCow active (popout and campaign)
- Website - does not have Google Tag Manager Installed
Follow the Steps below:
2. Navigate to Google Analytics Events and Set Filter
1. Open Google Analytics
- Navigate to Google Analytics
- Login to your Google Analytics account with your Google Account
- Navigate to your websites Analytics
2. Navigate to Events, set your date filter
- Click on Reports
- Click on Engagement
- Click on Events
- Set your date filter to a period you wish to track (e.g last 90 days)
3. View Events
- Scroll down the page further to view events that have occured
- See all the events that occurred on the website during the date period set
*events only display after 24-48 hours - Events titled "cc_" are ConversionCow events

4. Tips & Tricks
View Events by Source / Medium (Attribution)
- While in Google Analytics 4
- Navigate to Reports>Engagement>Events
- Select your Date Filter appropriately
- Select to add a Parameter next to event name
- Select Traffic Source > Manual > Session source/medium
- This will show the source of the lead and assist with attribution in reporting

Before you start:
- Website - Has Google Analytics Installed
- Website - Has Google Tag Manager Installed
- Website - Has ConversionCow active (popout and campaign)
- Web Browser - Has Google Tag Assistant Installed
Follow the Steps below:
6. Review in Google Analytics 4
1. Open Tag Manager
2. Create a Trigger
- Click on Triggers
- Click on add new Trigger
- Click Choose a Trigger type
- Click Custom Event
- Define the Event name that will cause the Trigger. In this case we chose cc_tab_show. For a full list of ConversionCow Events that can be tracked HERE
- Name and Save your Trigger
3. Create a Tag
- Navigate to Tags
- Select to create a new Tag
- Choose your Tag type - Select Google Analytics
- Select GA4 Event
- Enter your Measurement ID for GA4
- Choose the Trigger you wish to Tag. In our example, we're choosing the Trigger we just created
- Review and Save your Tag
4. Preview/Test your Tag
- Click on Preview to test your Tag
- Connect to your website
- Preview your website
- Replicate the event on your website
- Take note of your Tag firing
- Click on the data layer to see the information that can be captured in the Tag
5. Submit your Tag
- If the test was successful, return to Google Tag Manager and select Submit
- Review and publish your changes
- Confirm your changes, example below

FAQ
Q: My ConversionCow Events are not hitting in Google Tag Assistant
A: Ensure when replicating Events in Google Tag Assistant, you have enabled cookies, log out of the website CMS administration and you're replicating the Event in a tab monitored by Google Tag Assistant
Q: I am seeing Events track in Google Tag Assistant but I can't see the Event count increase in Google Analytics.
A: Events take 24-48 hours to appear in Google Analytics reporting section, you can confirm the events are being logged by Google Analytics by using the Google Analytics Debug Mode.

Troubleshooting
How to identify which method to use?
- If your Tag Assistant shows GTM as an option (as circled), cc events will not be sent to Google Analytics. GTM method must be utilised. Alternatively removing GTM from your website will also resolve the issue.
