What Is It?
A/B Test allows you to split the traffic equally between two Popouts that you want to test the effectiveness of.
Say if you were a plumbing business and you wanted to test the effectiveness of 2 sales messages:
- Popout A may have a message that says "Contact us now and we'll send someone over to assess your problem within the hour" with a phone number next to it.
versus
- Popout B which may have a message that says "We'll provide you with a quote within the hour if you send us a photo of your problems" with a form next to it.
What you would ideally do is to find some way to split the traffic equally between the 2 Popouts just to see which one gets more engagement from the user.
Say if you get 100 visitors in a day, you would want to split 50 visitors to see Popout A and 50 visitors to Popout B and at the end of it, see whether you get more phone calls than form submissions or vice versa.
If the result was you got 30 phone calls and just 10 form submissions, this shows that Popout A is the preferred method of the customer demographic that visits your site. If the result was quite even: 20 phone calls and 18 form submissions, you might want to extend the test for another 100 visits to get more clarity on which is the better performer.
A/B Testing helps you figure out your most effective Popout. Which is why ConversionCow has that added functionality to help you work out just that.
